William C Halacy , VRHS Class of 1973

William C. Halacy, 68, peacefully entered into eternal life on Monday, April 8, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side. Born December 3, 1955, in Albany, NY, Bill was the son of the late John Halacy and Nina Frankenbeck Halacy. Bill attended Van Rensselaer High School where he played varsity basketball, football, and baseball. After high school Bill served in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his military service, he went to work for Amtrak/Conrail and later CSX as a brakeman and a conductor. Bill was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed attending various family gatherings where he was always quick with a story or a laugh. He was well liked by those who knew him and enjoyed spending time with his friends, especially DJ LaMarre who was his lifelong "partner in crime". He loved sports, especially football, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Dallas Cowboys. When he was watching the games, you could hear him shouting at the TV from at least a block away. Bill will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his love of a good time, and his kind and generous heart. Those whose lives he touched will never forget him. Bill is survived by his loving children, Tara Campbell (Tim Cottin), and John, Raymond, and Mark Halacy; his grandchildren, Bailey and Sean Campbell; his siblings Deborah (Geoff Holmewood) Halacy, Mark (Tom Pollock) Halacy and Donna (Jeffrey) Stoutamire; and nephews Alex and Chris Whitworth, Eric Stoutamire, and Kacey and Kevin Holmewood. He is also survived by his loving wife Deanna Eisler Halacy, niece, Alana Cimijotti Halper and nephew, Vinny Cimijotti. His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Pius X Church 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Monday, April 15th from 4-7PM. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush.
